Two suns, one moon, and underneath it lies the land of Dharmaghat, untouched by the Imperial powers on the bring of industrial revolution. Rich in natural resources, and kept ignorant by years of rule by the Enlightened One, the land's days of being ignored by empire are at an end.

Off Dharmaghat's shores, a woman is thrown into the great ocean, left to die by her traitorous mates aboard the world's most feared airship, The Devil's Mercy. Kama does not die, a lust for revenge firing her struggle for the shore and a return to the skies, anything to get away from the land of her birth.

Instead, Kama is nearly broken in body and spirit by the forces dividing her homeland. When at last she might succumb, she is pulled from oblivion by the father she left behind years ago. Forced to see how the people she abandoned live each day, terrified and poor, understanding she cannot return to the skies unless the land itself rises up, Kama vows to ignite a great resistance.

No loss has prepared her for the sacrifices she must make, nor has any battle she ever joined prepared her for the strength she will discover.

All she has ever known, all she has loved or cherished has been taken away. She has neither the magic of sages or the terrible weapons of iron and steam to wield. She is one woman against both the might of a trade empire the suns never set upon, and a living god embodied on earth.

Kama does not believe in fate or fortune. She will take sword in hand, a shadow to strike from, and call the odds against her more than fair.
