Penelope and her family, have twelve cats that were adopted more than ten years ago. Most of them were still kittens when they came to live with her.
Penelope enjoys writing children's stories and taking photos. She documented the growth of the kittens from the moment that they committed pranks all day long, until when each element eventually developed its own character and personality. An idea came to her mind when she showed the real-life images of the cats to her friends, relations and their young children. The youngsters showed a deep interest and joy, whilst observing the photos and listening to the stories told.
Subsequently, Penelope illustrated her stories by adding cartoon-elements to her photos which increased the youngster's delight and attention.
Furthermore, she understood that picture-books, with real-life scenery and that include add-on cartoon effects, increase a young child's pleasure (target ages 2-6). She found this to be a valid, subtle way to calm the youngsters, in particular when it was close to bedtime. So, this is how the compelling stories of "The Dozen Fun Cats" came to life!
