Roger Harmon, takes us on a journey of personal discovery and in the process, exposes the attitudes, mind sets and prejudices of the many characters he meets on the way and offers some fascinating personal philosophical observations. The story moves from its beginning in England to the deserts of Arabia, with a brief foray into China, a spell in South Africa and finally into a cold and grey northern Europe, Harmon relates events that are filled with humor, pathos and no small measure of intellectual challenge.

Building on the experience of a failed bullion deal, Harmon has now devised a way to make millions dealing in gold. His plan involves using OPM (Other People’s Money) and being economical with the truth about how he plans to carry out the deal. To follow through with the plan, he enlists the help of a motley group of wannabes: a supermarket owner and his partner, a senior bank employee and a South African gold refiner.

All goes well at first and, while the plan is in operation, Harmon becomes involved in several other intriguing episodes, not all of which have positive outcomes. But nothing ever goes exactly to plan, and the gold deal faces a serious obstacle when the fraud police become involved.

At the eleventh hour, can Harmon rescue his deal and save himself, or will it crash and burn, and him with it?
