During the Second World War and the German occupation of Greece between the years 1940 and 1941, the author survived for 40 days with no bread, just on some meat and herbs. In March 1947, two thousand guerillas of the Greek Communist Party surrounded the village Argri at 8 oclock in the evening. One guerilla knocked on the door of the authors house. His mother opened the door and saw before her a guerrilla with huge beard and a gun in his hand. The guerilla told the author to follow him. Six hours later, they met up with the rebels brother-in-arms, captain Ypsilntis. The latter put his pistol against the authors head and ordered him to follow him. The authors childhood dream was to go to America. In 1956, that dream came true; he left for the United States. Today, he is a resident of Delray Beach, Florida, where he has been living with his beloved wife, Darlene, for 39 years. He is 90 years old and still going strong. He always thanks God for the good life hes had. He also thanks America for the opportunities it gave him.
