In this Volume we will provide details on the first generation of French immigrants to arrive in Canada – namely Jehan Laspron and Marie Anne Michelle Renaud. Unlike many genealogical studies this is not an ahnentafel study, but a study of all of the children in all the families that were produced from that marriage. I have invested a considerable amount of time and energy into researching their descendants in both the paternal and maternal branches. This one couple produced three principle, yet inter-related, paternal surnames: Lacharité, Lampron, and Desfossés. Families within each of those three surnames also produced their own paternal surnames like Geoffroy, Beaulac, St Louis, Glaude, Guertin, and others. Many of those names metamorphosed to produce new forms of the names like Laspron, Lampro, Lamproe, Lampreau, La Charite, Lacharity, Charity, DeFosse, and numerous other permutations. Whatever their names, they formed part of the greater family tree that this and subsequent volumes will explore.
