The End of Pink won the prestigious 2015 James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets, the only second-book award for poetry in the United States.
Nuernberger was also awarded the 2015 James Laughlin Award Residency in Miami Beach from the Academy of American Poets, which is a weeklong residency at the Betsy Writer's Room in Florida.

The End of Pink is different from other collections of poetry because it leans away from the personal lyric impulse that dominates contemporary poetry aesthetics and leans towards an essayist relationship with research.
Nuernberger received research fellowships from the American Antiquarian Society and the Bakken Museum of Electricity in life to support the development of these poems. Her particular focus was on the history of science and medicine, as well as environmental concerns such as acid mine drainage and fracking.
