A scientific team of Astronauts discover a new planet, they designate as MP-1, plush with minerals and elements desperately needed by a resource-starved Intergalaxial Federation. Mining operations are rapidly set up to harvest the badly needed ores. Suddenly and without warning, something starts killing the miners. The massacre is so disturbing the federation dispatches Dr. Sara Anne Stevens and a spec ops team to investigate.
During her investigation, she not only discovers a very rare element needed to support her research on dark energy reactors, but also makes telepathic contact with an unknown Entity. The Creature desperately needs a way to communicate with the aliens invading her world, so she asks for Sara’s help and decides not to kill her. It also agrees to allow her to obtain the elements she needs for her research as long as they stay out of its cavern, located deep in the mine site.
Certain that the killing issue has been resolved; Sara convinces the federation to allow her to set up a research facility, on the planet, to continue her work to develop dark energy reactors — a technology far too destructive to develop on her home planet.
Governments of competing worlds learn of the planet and its vast resources. Soon an interplanetary war breaks out to determine who will control the most valuable piece of real estate in the Galaxy.
The Entity, who has waited one thousand years to complete the great mission entrusted to her, is caught up in the middle of the conflict and fights for her very survival as miners and soldiers decimate her world. She has one choice left — to kill.
After the conflict is resolved, the federation decides to resume mining operations on the planet, and is concerned about the safety of the miners. They send Sara Stevens back to MP-1to resolve the dispute with the creature. She reports her findings to the federation who then gives her thirty days to either resolve the issue or destroy the Entity.
Sara is determined to save the Entity and comes up with a brilliant answer, but it has a low probability of success. Time counts down as she implements her plan to help the Entity complete her extremely important mission. Sara knows if she fails, she and the federation will have caused the greatest catastrophe ever imposed on any world or species in the history of the galaxy.
