In this 298th issue of the Baba Indaba’s Children's Stories series, Baba Indaba narrates the fairy tale simply called “THE FAIRY”
ONCE upon a time, long, long ago and far, far away there was, once upon a time, a widow, who had two daughters. The eldest was so much like her in the face and humour, that whoever looked upon the daughter saw the mother. However, they were both so disagreeable, and so proud, that there was no living with them.

The youngest, who was the very picture of her father, for courtesy and sweetness of temper, was withal one of the most beautiful girls ever seen. As people naturally love their own likeness, this mother even doated on her eldest daughter, and at the same time had a horrible aversion for the youngest. She made her eat in the kitchen, and work continually.

One day when drawing water at the well the younger sister was asked by an old woman to spare her a drink. This she did willingly and that’s things began to change……
Who was the old woman you ask? How did things change? Was it for the better or for the worse? What happened to the horrible mother and sister? Well you’ll have to download and read this story for yourself to find the answers to your questions.

Baba Indaba is a fictitious Zulu storyteller who narrates children's stories from around the world. Baba Indaba translates as "Father of Stories".

Each issue also has a "WHERE IN THE WORLD - LOOK IT UP" section, where young readers are challenged to look up a place on a map somewhere in the world. The place, town or city is relevant to the story. HINT - use Google maps.
