Impact simply means having a marked/strong effect on someone or something. It is the exacting of an influence on others positively in a way to cause them to begin to do things in a rightful way. God has given us the charge for the world. He says in his word that the earth has he given to the son of men. The world is our catchment. The Lord wants us to turn around the world for good. We should be the one trailing the blaze and showing men the way to go. Jesus calls us the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Light and salt are symbolic. One illuminates while the other flavors. The world should be out of joint without us. They should feel a void and a longing to be influenced or impacted by us. All of us would like to be remembered as individuals who left a good and lasting imprint on the lives of others. The problem is that we tend to be so self-centered that few of us deeply impact even our closest neighbors. How well we succeed in touching the lives of others is usually determined by our character. And ultimately, it is our spiritual impact that our heavenly Father is concerned about.
