In the late twentieth century, we saw on television the first man to ever walk on the Moon, my great-great-grandfather, Neil Armstrong. And then as the years went by, there were movies and television shows that depicted space travel out in the universe. Other solar systems were visited, and other intelligent life-forms were encountered, most of them unfriendly. It was very exciting and allowed our imagination to run free. It was as if we were there and things were really happening. It was an amazing thought. But that allowed for a giant leap forward from walking on the Moon. But what happened between walking on the Moon and visiting other solar systems? There would have to be a first time, a first mission out of our solar system. The Genesis mission was that first time. A lot was learned, and tragedy narrowly escaped. Future missions will rely on what we found out there, and in some ways, they will know what to expect.
