A sister and her brother find themselves trapped in a parallel world ruled by a dictator called The Controller. They land in the hands of mutants, a rebel army of escaped political prisoners. The mutants believe the young boy to be the incarnation of a prophesy proclaiming a child-saviour will appear. He will be accompanied by fearless warrior who will lead them to victory against The Controller and his army. The Controller has a huge army and a vast array of weapons. The Rebels have only hope and their belief in the prophesy. The young woman realises that she is falling in love with a mutant called Squirrel who has befriended her but that a relationship with a mutant is impossible. Her brother protests that he isn’t anyone’s saviour. Furthermore, he believes they have been swallowed by their mother’s computer on which she was writing a fantasy about an evil dictator. Brother and sister both realise that they will never escape unless they help the rebels defeat The Controller.
