It isn't an easy life for Jane Doe. Well, first there's her name. And then her atrocious adopted family, who like to leave on vacation without her, demanding that she mind the family restaurant. Now all this would be hard enough for anyone, but when you’re only 10-years-old, why, the obstacles seem insurmountable! The only way Jane survives is by reading. She really loves her books and moreover, has a great fondness for the novels of Charles Dickens.

One very rainy day, her family in Las Vegas and Jane making deliveries of frozen Chinese food, she encounters something very strange indeed in the spokes of her umbrella. She gives it a shake and out tumbles the most extraordinary being. Possessing beautiful white wings, it is Jane’s guardian angel, Rowena. Jane is astounded but the problem is that Rowena is a bit of a klutz…she mixes up languages, forgets her shoes, falls into manholes. But the one thing she can do well is provide Jane with wishes. Now what kid wouldn’t want that?! So Jane wishes to meet with Dickens in London of 1847. And that’s when the crazy adventure begins…
