His travels take him to Vaatu’u, a small island in American Samoa. There he meets, falls in love with, and in a charming Samoan wedding, marries Sarah, a breathtakingly beautiful Samoan woman, his “goddess risen from the sea”. Their love helps them face a series of exciting and dangerous adventures.
While Sarah and David are building a tropical resort to help the islanders find jobs, a devastating tsunami develops. Sarah goes out to sea to warn the fishermen. They all return to safety because of her warning, but she does not. David struggles to survive, devastated by the fear he has lost his wife. But theirs is a love that will not be destroyed. Not by the force of a tsunami, not by the violence of a hurricane, not even by the immense power of the United States government.
