‘the grammar of grapes’ is a selection of Heather Sladdin’s poems, many of which have been published in magazines and literary journals. With a gentle air of erotica blowing through them, they deal with human relationships, frustration, intimacy, sensuality and the mysterious nature of memory. Initially the physical and emotional landscape is set in dark hues, yet eventually, the poetry elevates us to life’s effervescent light, profound beauty and mystery. By using subtle rhyme and a rhythm building up to the unstated, Heather is able to penetrate our hearts, haunting us with the unseen. She understands the power of silent moments, empty spaces where the reader can enter and become part of the evolving landscape. Marcus Meinhold, author of ‘Falling Feather’ About the Author: Heather Sladdin has a PhD in Creative Writing from The University of Adelaide. She graduated magna cum laude from SFSU with a BA in Creative Writing. She worked in marketing, recruitment and publishing before teaching Creative Writing, Communication and Media Studies at UniSA and SAIBT. She has previously published a poetry anthology titled 'Flow' with co-editor Richard Hillman and she has one other collection of poetry titled, 'rooms of discovery'.
