The Halo of the Jungle is the true story of the Aron family's forced emigration from Nazi Germany to Ecuador in 1939, and the 10 years they lived on their farm homestead in the eastern rainforest.

It begins with Werner Aron's growing unease in his homeland of Germany, his fateful decision to leave, and their journey from the coastal port of Guayaquil, over the mountains, and into the Oriente (eastern jungles) of Ecuador.

There followed ten years of struggles, failures and triumphs, as a family of city-born Europeans learned to live the life of dairy farmers in their new home in South America.

The book was started by Werner Aron, and completed by his son Gert Aron.

From the dedication, by Werner Aron:

To my wife, Margot -- in gratitude.
To my children -- as a keepsake.
To my grandchildren -- for them a scarcely conceivable epic legend
