Summer 2016 my sons and I harvested our much-anticipated sunflower crop, which we planted late 2015. It was a bumper crop, hundreds of plants of numerous sizes, some reaching four meters in height. Many plants produced large flower heads that encapsulated hundreds of seeds.
The mammoth crop did not emerge overnight; a tedious effort was compulsory throughout the growing process. As the garden would be dug directly into the soil the clearing of land was stage one, copious amounts of soil dug and turned. The ground then enriched with organic fertilizer. After much effort, the fertile seedbed was created and ready for planting seeds.
The seeds were planted per packet instructions, with correct planting depth, spacing and then water added. Within fourteen days of high expectancy, the first signs of our viable crop emerged as seedlings punched through the soil to capture the sun’s warmth.
The crop had to be constantly observed with a state of vigilance to identify and eradicate any immediate dilemmas that would have harmed the small plants. Weeds extracted, regular watering given and organic fertilizer distributed every fourteen days.
A heritage of farming runs in my family, however, I do not regard myself as a farmer. This is not farming how-to book, but a biblical investigation on what God said as I was grew this crop.
I believe this book is Holy Ghost inspired and it may change certain viewpoints and perspectives. Let us begin.
