The Haunted Bookshop is not a novel of the supernatural. Rather, the title of this book refers to the ghosts of the past that haunt all libraries and bookstores, or "the ghosts of all great literature." Throughout the novel Morley, through the character of Roger Mifflin, makes reference to the knowledge and wisdom that one can gain from literature.

Every reader who made the delightful acquaintance of Roger Mifflin in "Parnassus on Wheels" will rejoice upon finding him in this volume the proprietor of a bookshop in Brooklyn. So realistically does this story begin that one is almost impelled to take down the telephone book to get the address of the haunted bookshop.

While much of the charm of the book lies in the character of the whimsical, bookloving Roger Mifflin and his comments on all manner of things, a gentle love story runs through the novel and an exciting bomb plot of which the bookshop becomes the tragic scene.

If you have not yet had the great joy of reading this charming book, prepare now to partake of a real mental feast -- from appetizer of mystery, through meat of information, crisp salad of romance, to dessert of humor.

This special edition contains the complete and unabridged text from the 1919 classic novel as well as a special introduction and bonus material for book-lovers by Mark Leslie, author of the 2014 book Tomes of Terror: Haunted Bookstores and Libraries which IS about the supernatural and a celebration of bookish locales around the world.
