The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkein | Digest & Review

What is a hobbit? Hobbits are a clan of little chubby people; around half the height of a person and sporting big furry toes. Hobbits are a lively bunch and enjoy drinking and having loads of fun. One such hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, lives in a cozy cavity beneath a hill at Bag End. He is content with his serene and tranquil life, but this is all about to change. Gandalf, an ancient wizard, arrives at Bilbo’s home and convinces him to go on an exciting escapade along with thirteen dwarfs. Gandalf has picked Bilbo as the dwarves’ burglar; on their dangerous mission to recover their stolen riches from Smaug, a pillaging dragon. Bilbo is not sure that he wants to leave his peaceful existence to embark on this adventure and the dwarves doubt that he will be of any help to them anyway; but Gandalf guarantees the dwarves and Bilbo that they will all be surprised at what the tiny hobbit will do. Follow Bilbo and the dwarves as they set off on a mind-blowing journey to “there and back again.”
