Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859 – 1930) was a Scottish author, playwright and physician. He is mostly known for his fictional stories of adventures and investigations of Sherlock Holmes and doctor Watson, a private detective from London and his companion. Holmes stories are considered to be one of the greatest assets of the detective genre, but besides them Doyle wrote in multitude of other genres, such as science fiction, fantasy, historical novels and many more.
