Major Samuel Nathan Kidd commands his regiment into the field against an apparent Apache myth called Red Hawk. Red Hawk’s reported bands lead the calvary on a long and difficult campaign covering an area the size of many states. Major Kidd, with his calvary, leads the chase from Fort Davis, Texas, to the Mexican border, back north through the mountains along the Rio Grande, to the southern edge of the Territory of New Mexico. The campaign finally leads to a mesa north of the Davis Mountains in pursuit of Red Hawk. This is where all the bravery, cunning and wit of both sides will be tested.
