This work charts the history of modern Turkey from 1911 until 1922. It looks at the four conflicts which involved Turkey during that period and their impact on the map and the people of Turkey.

First it deals with the Italian invasion of Libya in 1911 and the military conflict that ensued until October 1912. Then it moves onto the Balkan scene where the Ottomans were involved in war with Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, and Serbia. This conflict lasted between 1912 and 1913, and was followed in 1914 by Turkey’s involvement in the First World War. All fronts: western (Gallipoli), eastern (Caucasus), and southern (the Arab) are looked at in equal measure. The book ends with the longest chapter devoted to the War of Independence (1919-1922).

Like other works in the series, this is the first that looks at this subject in a European language.

Also like the other works it includes many maps and pictures.
