Eighteen years ago, the Marine made a mistake. He allowed the right girl to get away, and married her sister. Now, his wife's death leaves him totally alone. He's being deployed to a dangerous part of the world, and he doesn't really expect to ever come back. Over the years, he's thought about his first love too much. She never spoke to him again after she found out he'd had sex with her sister - the day after he'd had sex with her. He didn't blame her for being angry.

When he discovered where she was, not long before his deployment, the Marine drove to Michigan to ask her to forgive him. At least, his conscience would be clear for the first time in forever. All he had was an old address, but he found her. She actually allowed him to come inside, although she wasn't thrilled about it.

Then her son walked in, and the Marine looked at himself twenty years ago.

He's never been happy. She's never been touched since their one night in the back of his car.

Will she allow the sparks between them to flame, or will she shelter her heart from a man who walked away once and may not return again?
