The Dotty Numbers Collection was created to help young children understand basic numbers, in an enjoyable yet educational way. Though his personal experiences, with his own daughters, the author Mark Noott witnessed that educational childrens books seemed to place most of the emphasise on pure literacy skills. Each book in the collection is intended to open up a basic numeric concept to the young assisted reader, with the intention that this can then be expanded upon, either immediately or at a later date. Within each story, other educational and social prompts are included for the reader to explore in more depth, with their child. In The Mighty Zero the topics of Water-side safety, Listening to your parents and Making new friends, are integrated within the fun storyline.
