Short stories are a writer’s project, providing an author the space to put the many ideas circulating inside his head onto the page. Like any story, they start with the seed of an idea which is then extrapolated, and eventually presented to you, the reader. A short story contains characters and plots that are as dear to the author as those in a full length novel. They are still meticulously written, re-written and edited until they form a final product, ready to be shared with the world.
This collection of short stories came about independent of one another, and for that reason they are not related, or even about the same world. Yet, these stories have the same germ of an idea. It is the idea that an individual can change the world. The characters in these stories leave marks on the worlds they live, and they leave marks on the people they meet on their journeys. For some, these journeys are long, and for others quite short. Some leave lasting impressions on the entire world, and others on just one person.
There are four short stories in this collection, with the fifth story taking the form of a novella. This final story, the Movie of Life, is about a man named Isaac, who fights the oppression of the five world powers. Coming from a poor background, he rises up to become head of an organisation that fights for the freedom of the people of the world. Isaac succeeds in the end but this story is not about the destination, it is about Isaac's journey, his movie of life.
