There is no better way to illustrate God's word than drama - real people facing real life challenges right before your eyes and hearts.
We these short plays as elements of worship services, often just before the sermon. These scriptural illustrations collect the congregation's attention before the sermon and focus it forward.
They can also act as catalysts to bring a theater group together, or to facilitate discussion, or just to have some meaningful fun. And since these dramas can generally be presented with two or three actors, and a minimum sets, they're easy to put on.
Use them as templates, too. Drama ministries get artists involved, and artist’s creates new and interesting ways to present the Gospel. Let these plays encourage you to create your own short plays designed specifically to address issues important to your church.
If you purchase a copy for yourself and each cast member, each play may be presented at least three times within a year from purchase of the cast member copies.
In this, the 4th volume, we center on two areas of scripture, 1 Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings and the first five beatitudes. He’s a brief description of the plays included:
Alice Meets Malice (malice)
Alice is a young, successful teacher is up for the prestigeous Teacher of the Year award, but a wife of a school board member has an old grudge and will do anything to keep her from it.
Purified in the Furnace (all guile)
A 60-year old church has failed and is being sold - we find out why.
Closing Up The Bung Hole (hypocrisies)
16-year old Albert’s been arrested for shoplifting. His father, a deacon, would prefer he be released quickly so the incident will remain underwraps. Albert has other ideas.
Green Ghosts (envies)
The pastor of a megachurc has died. The Pastor Search Committee has passed over the 2nd in command at the church in favor of the dead pastor’s inexperienced son. How do you think this goes over?
License to Kill (evil speaking)
Let’s take a little walk around town with Bernie Blunt, a cheerful fellow who leaves anything but cheer in his wake.
Spirit Poor - Heaven Rich (poor in spirit)
Windfree Portal is being considered for a high mangement position at the Hog Heaven Meat Company, but is he truly the man for the job?
Mourning Do (who mourn)
Simms Harper and his sister own a valuable property but won’t allow it sold to help him and his struggling church. What’s he to do
No Need to Speak (the meek)
How far will Joan Major’s go to help an 8-year old girl in danger because of her meth using foster parent
Hunger and Thirst (hunger and thirst)
Over 6 months ago Missionary Hanson Weeks disappeared into the jungle. Now his raspy, scarred voice comes over a mission radio asking for help, but not for him.
Mercy (merciful)
The LiveAway Christian Boarding School has experienced serious student vandalism. The head mistress wants to throw her out, but one of the teachers believes the situation calls for mercy. Is she right?
