Francine had her daughter’s life planned out for her since birth. She made sure that she hung out with the right people, wore the right clothes, and was destined to marry a lawyer who worked at her husband’s law firm. Beth was expected to throw tea parties, entertain the gentry and have children.
Well, Beth at least got the last bit right. Instead of living up to her mother’s expectations, she became a single teen mum, moved from England to Australia, and became an apprentice chef.
Oops.
Beth’s son Daniel, on the other hand, seems to be her parent’s redemption. Not only does he want to become a lawyer and study at Oxford, he’s also good looking, smart, and has hardly said boo to girls. But as Daniel starts at a prestigious new school, his own expectations are beginning to change. Maybe he wants to become a doctor instead of a lawyer, and a very cute girl named Jamie has caught his eye.
Francine though manages to get her own back, when Beth, needing money, borrows it off her parents. Their only condition: her and Daniel must visit them in England.
But life has an interesting way of throwing curve balls, and Daniel’s last two years at high school will be no exception.
