Clean and wholesome novelette. Halloween western.
Gage Austen happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. When an old friend came into the bank of Turtle Creek, and held it up, killing the Sheriff's daughter, he found himself on the run. Leaving the posee a few days behind, he needed a place to rest up and remembered an old cabin nestled between two tall hills, that unless you knew it was there, you'd never find it. What he didn't count on was arriving there to find Rosa Crossett part gypsy and witch living there.
Rosa Crossett was all alone since Sheriff Hank Wells tried to burn her at the stake, and her grandpa helped her escape, losing his life in the process. She ran out of town as fast as she could and arrived at the property her grandpa bought a few weeks before he died. When Gage rode in one day, she wasn't too sure about him not being an outlaw on the run, but his story about Hank Wells rang true. She hated Hank and swore if he came on her property she'd kill him.
Both of them knew that if Hank showed up, it'd take all Gage's gun skills and Rosa's witchcraft to stop him from ruining their lives once again.
