Introduction

Prayers can be in any form. In ancient times, meditation was considered to be a part of prayer and getting the soul to harmonize with the universe.

People are going to wonder, why I am writing a philosophical book, when basically I write books on parenting, healing, natural cures, and psychological books.

That is because, I have been writing The Science of Living Books, for many years and have written about the power of faith, to heal, and the miracle of life itself and so, having come across a number of little miracles, during one’s day to day life, one wonders why we do not count our blessings and give thanks in prayer more often?

Many people in the 21st century, who have been brought up with the attitude that faith, prayer, belief in religion are old-fashioned – you may not know it, but this attitude is getting more and more prevalent with the younger generation today, with the coming of materialism which is taking over the power of spirituality to influence a youngster for good or evil, may say, not another book on pray, it is good for you, a preachy book.

This book is definitely not like that. It has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with your personal beliefs and the way in which you communicate with the higher power, whoever you follow and believe in. That is none of my concern. I could not care less about your religion. I am talking about the joy of learning how to get in touch spiritually, with some good power out there in the universe, bringing harmony to body, mind, heart, spirit and soul.

People have been trying to do that for millenniums. Those who could not understand the concept decided that they had better think of something in the form of visible rituals and worship of visible manifestations of the higher spirit. And that was more than 15,000 years ago, when natural phenomena, which were not understood by humans, who had just begun to use their brain for thinking started to think that appeasement of a more powerful spirit, would be better all-around for their well-being, physical, mental, spiritual, and later on emotional and psychological.
And so the concept of prayer started. We, 15 millenniums later are doing the same thing, naturally, instinctively, and for thousands of years, we have held some beliefs, tenets, commands, commandments, rules, traditions of proper behavior to restrict or more uncivilized natures and keep them under control. That is how society has been kept under control, for millenniums, all over the world.
