Charles Kingsley was an English priest, historian and novelist, famous mostly for his works Hypatia, Hereward the Wake and Westward Ho! Due to his interest in history, Kingsley wrote several historical novels and achieved a great success after publishing his works Hereward the Wake and Westward Ho!
First published in 1848, The Saint's Tragedy is Charles Kingsley's major effort at writing a tragedy, voicing the author's early anti-Catholicism, which later became the main theme of his works.
A classic example of Kingsley's vivid, and simply excellent style, this book is a real treasure. Enjoy the reading!
