Set in 1940's England during WW2 this is the heart warming story of a young evacuee finding love with a huge new family.
She just didn't expect it to be a family of scarecrows !
With a heart the size of the moon, old Ma takes eight year Jenny under her wing.
Jenny finds out she has a magical destiny to fulfil and it's already waiting for her in Hod-me-dod-lee.
If you love stories set in the English countryside, with old country customs, birds, animals, lots of genuine laughter and tears all the way through, plus a little cat you could just cuddle to bits, then you and your children will adore this book.
The scarecrows are unforgettable from grumpy old Birdie Stump who's over 300 yrs old to teeny weeny Pinny Pipit no bigger than a mouse, but twice as naughty.
A lot is based on my own childhood growing up in a small English village where I had a very happy, Enid Blyton style childhood and I admit I cried a few times when writing it because Ma is my own much missed Gran.
I hope you enjoy it.
Suitable to read to kids from 6-10, especially those who like cats, cooking, playing camp and of course, scarecrows.
