The Sortino Files is a story about a family which began with its ancestral roots in Sortino, Sicily and has continued in America for over a century. It includes an historic account of when Italy was unified and of the great migration from Southern Italy to the United States as well as a description of what life was like in Sicily during this period, why our ancestors left their home, and what it means to be Sicilian. Much of our story is based on my own personal knowledge, memories, life experiences and conversations with family members during my life.
