The Spanish Angels is a novel that contains 80,198 words that are summarized within 6 chapters; four of which are a prelude to the narrated movie script about a Mexican bandit that falls in love with a rancher's adopted daughter. The story takes place in Texas after the civil war, and as the leader of a successful band of outlaws, he is pursued by the Texas Rangers. However, when he met the girl of his dream who had a mutual yen, he applied for a position as a ranchero at her dad's spread. Moreover, since he'd kept his face covered during holdups, he was able to fit in as a cowboy while his gang carried on with the mayhem.

The girl was the product of a bad seed; an offspring of a demented Union soldier who raped the rancher's wife while on a raiding excursion into the South. She grew up as a problem child and later on as a problematic young woman. The girl's character and her boyfriend's willingness to participate lead to one thing after another. The interaction between them created a situation where murder became an end result and a pursuit ensues.

Time seemed to stand still as the clarions sounded the annunciation of the Archangel, and as the Spanish Angels followed in his wake they became visible, for a lesson had to be learned by those who brandish a gun.

Enjoy!
