Dr. Jacques LaPere accepts a tenure track position at the Teasdale Intensive Business School located in posh Scottsdale, Arizona that acts like a land-locked island state with no accountability to any person or higher governing entity. Shortly after his arrival, he is mobbed and bullied when high-up administrators accuse him of a dirty deed while on their summer program in Acapulco. His and his wife's reputations are smeared. Having seen the administration's insidious practices put to use with other teachers at the school, he knows he has to get out...and quick!

Ben Amado, a Portuguese teacher from Hawaii, is Jacques's best friend until Ben, who is adjunct faculty, crumbles under the administrative boot, and joins the ranks of some of America's best workplace repressors. And for what? For money, financial security, the discontinuance of the mobbing and bullying, and recognition as being a real person within the school. How much does he make? Not nearly enough to cover the loss of his first amendment rights and the fact that he must now mob and bully, too, if he hears anyone with an opinion that isn't the administrative line.

Bem Amado, a red-blooded American, with as much clout as a tadpole, is going to try to bring them down.
