Christopher Marlowe (26 feb 1564 - 30 May 1593) was an English dramatist, poet and translator. His plays are known for the use of blank verse and their overreaching protagonists. Marlowe's first play performed on the regular stage in London, in 1587, was Tamburlaine the Great. Marlowe's plays were enormously successful.
Dido, Queen of Carthage is a play by Christopher Marlowe. The story of the play focuses on the classical figure of Dido, the Queen of Carthage and her fanatical love for Aeneas. And, like it always used to happen in the ancient time, gods themselves were taking part in earthly affairs. Divine schemes and human passions are entwined in this dramatic masterpiece, and both men and gods are tangled in them. How will this tangle be solved? Read and find out!
