Saki was the pen name of Hector Hugh Munro (1870-1916) — a British writer who began his literary career working as a journalist. Eventually he used this experience to write short-stories, which often satirised the life during the Edwardian Era. He also wrote a romantic comedy play 'The Watched Pot' in collaboration with Charles Maude. In general, Munro's writing style usually feauters black humor, and some macabre elements. When the First World War broke out Munro enlisted as a volunteer and in 1916 during the Battle Of The Somme he was shot by a sniper. 'The Unrest-Cure' is a short story which starts with some gentlemen discussing a strange idea — the idea of having rest while having… unrest. Those people like order and tradition and routine and they can cure their nervous system only while they have rest. But then a new idea is introduced: to cure yourself while having stress. Read this brilliant humorous short-story and you will know everything about the ways of curing your nerves!
