The Villages of East Yorkshire' is a collection of forty historical studies of some of the East Riding's most interesting and well-known communities, the events that shaped them and the personalities that made them famous. From the Wolds to the plain of Holderness and the North Sea coast, the rich variety of East Yorkshire's villages and their people is fully represented in this fascinating book.
Martin Limon was born in Hull, East Yorkshire and attended local schools before studying for a degree in history at the University of Hull. After graduating, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Leeds and went on to teach history in two Hull secondary schools for twenty-six years. After retirement from teaching he wrote a `self-published' book on the history of Wawne Ferry and began writing local history articles for the `East Riding Gazette', `Yorkshire Ridings Magazine' and `The Journal'. His first book, `Tales from the East Riding' was published in 2006 and two years later he published `More Tales from the East Riding'. He currently writes for a number of Yorkshire-based magazines, including `The Journal', `Yorkshire Ridings Magazine' and `The Dalesman'. When not researching and writing, Martin enjoys playing snooker, doing pub quizzes and caravanning both in the UK and France. He is married and has two sons and two grandchildren.
