The War Years, is the fifth book in the series of historical fiction based on a factual family saga that began with early pioneers of living in the state of Western Australia. It follows the families of those original settlers who arrived at Cockburn Sound in the early 1830s. The story so far has carried the descendants into the Second World War of the years 1939 to 1945.
In this novel the family and friends are involved in the conflicts in the Europe and the Pacific campaigns, and also in the attacks by the Japanese on Australian soil. Ambrose and Charlotte Whittiker with their children, now moving into adulthood, along with their close friends, Connie and Charles Morgan, renew a connection with Connie’s brother’s family and relation both in Sydney and The United States of America. They join together in closer ties with the original pioneering families of Levi and Isabelle Everett and their friends Samuel and Millie Murphy.
What will happen to the children now caught up in the uncertain years ahead? Will any pay the ultimate price and if so how do their families cope with the trauma of war?
