Every nation in the world has its own folklore heritage — legends, myths, fairytales. In such stories the wisdom of every nation is collected and embodied, although some of the nations have similar tales, especially those who are neighbors. Legend and myths employ elements of supernatural origin: magic, gods, wonderful creatures. Tales are stories that are supposed to teach the coming generations by depicting various situations and various types of behavior demonstrated by the heroes. “The Weird Of The Three Arrows” is a Scottish legend narrating time of war conflicts between England and Scotland kings in the 14-th century. Sir James Douglas, well known by his appellation of the “Black Douglas” is playing in this story the main role. In the military camp Sir James noticed the figure of an old woman holding in her left hand three English cloth-shaft arrows. It were the arrows that were used to kill all sons of this good woman. She wanted James to use them and give them back to the enemy which left that woman childless. Suddenly she replied that James would see her again soon and departed.
