Two teens;
Arlia - enjoying a life of privilege as the daughter of the Caliph of Kelaneath, far removed from the lives of the people of that poverty stricken city –discovers she is not his daughter at all.
Eldon - filled with hatred - on the run after the Caliph’s soldiers kill his father who had dared to confront the Caliph about the city’s poverty.

Two quests;
Arlia’s: to find her true father.
Eldon’s: to free his mother and his beloved city.

Many Enemies;
Arlia escapes from the city masquerading as a boy. She meets Eldon when she is washed up on a remote beach after being shipwrecked. When he finds out she had been brought up in the palace, Eldon is resentful to be lumbered with the ‘son’ of his arch enemy. The two struggle through an untamed land together and develop a camaraderie as they survive being first enslaved by miners then kidnapped by bandits.

Arlia, still dressed as a boy comes across Emmanuel, a singing healer. It seems as if he has the power to help them. Can he be trusted and does he hold the key to both their quests?

Eldon and Arlia learn much as the story unravels and there are delightful moments as the friendship between them develops. When Eldon finds out Arlia is a girl their friendship holds strong even when they meet the beautiful Jubeth and her wonderful family.

Several twists throughout the story keep the readers on their toes and make this a compelling and enjoyable read.
