This novel has been created using a mix of poetry and prose. The poems are used in the beginning to set up the backstory of the tail whilst the prose takes over the majority of the book. Since the sample only provides a sample of the poetry. The introduction to the story itself is written here:

THE YEAR IS 647, according to the Gaian Calendar. Six hundred and forty seven years since Ulfgar faced Solindus; nearly six hundred and forty seven years of constant war. It’s strange to think that the fall of Solindus was initially intended to bring about an era of peace; a golden age for all Lycanthropes, but instead it became an exemplary excuse for another cycle of meaningless conflict. Contrary to fostering peace and understanding, we Wolves acted much like the Humans did. We invaded their lands and were invaded in turn; we conquered and were conquered. A constant back and forth, almost like a child’s game of kickball; that was how it must have looked to the Gods watching over us.

Now, we find ourselves poised again on the brink of yet another war; another attempt at a final solution to the ‘Human Problem’. Though it turns my stomach to know that I will have to participate in this farce, my duty as the heir to the Wolven Pride means that I must cast my own ideals aside; especially for the good of the Tribes.

Or at least that is what they would like of me…
