“The Worst Trade”

When Ike blazed into the White House in 1953, he also walked smack into a hornets nest. There was the Korean War that everyone knew about, but only a select and secret few knew about the huge crafts in high orbit above the equator - and he was not amongst them.
Then the messages came. They wanted to come down and do a deal; a quid pro quo of sorts. We wanted their technology. They needed a few of our living humans - not much. Ike went ballistic (almost literally) until he took control of the situation only to realize that control was only a mirage. First, one group of aliens come calling, and then another arrives, both with their desires set on our Earth. One side good, we hoped; the other worse than the devil himself and twice as slick. Ike had his hands full, and in the shadows he also held the fate of the planet, if not this part of the galaxy at stake. And all this was to be kept hidden from the general public until it could be revealed.

The Worst Trade gives you Krlll, (that's right, no vowel, roll that L a long time) a Gray alien whose disgusting attempts at the human smile will bring up your lunch if you're not careful. He's a devious SOB who makes Tony Soprano look like a dense schoolboy. He can't or won't speak in audible words, so everyone uses a Las Vegas Liberace-look-alike, cross-dressing psychic who is actually the best telepathic translator that the Fed has. We've got steely-eyed black ops heroes. We've got another alien with a distinctive taste for sweet Earth muskrats. We've got another hero in Philly with a taste for large and sweet Earth girls who's wanted, hunted, and gone far underground. Suspense? Conflict? Check. Got it. Exopolitics, twists, fictional correlations to scary current timelines, plus good ole’ fashioned creepy darkness - but not all dark. Got that too. If you want realistic depictions of first contact and alien-human interactions - then this is the book. The story ends (hmmn?) in the present day. Who is keeping all these extraterrestrial secrets from us? And why? That's the real question. The Worst Trade is a fascinating look at this subject, a weekender book full of the dangerous and sneaky characters that you love to hate so well. Read it here.

The Worst Trade isn't your little brother's sci-fi or historical fiction story. It may not be fiction at all. The actual truth may be stranger still. These guys are dangerous and devious. You'll have to decide. - A.H.
