After escaping the barbarian Princess Shocara, Rasten returns to the capital to resume his effort to better outwit the barbarians. Shocara’s desire for Rasten, her effort to hold to her position and her growing understanding that perhaps the Elvin are honest all war within her, and make her miserable, but no less stubborn!
