I had no idea what a shifter was until I read this book. As I read, I found myself wondering what kind of animal I would shift to if I were a shifter. I think it's a really cool concept, and I enjoyed the book immensely. It's a great story and it is very well-written. There is plenty of excitement to keep you turning the pages. When I started Top Dog, I was expecting a very tongue-n-cheek or whimsical type of story. What I found instead was a very well written, satisfying storyline with successfully developed characters. This book totally changed my pre-conceived ideas of how alpha shifter males operate or what they shift into. Within the first few minutes of reading, Top Dog shows readers even a tiny Yorkie can be a force to be reckoned with. This is definitely one novel I’d like to see turned into a movie. It’s funny, sexy, exciting, and filled with some very interesting shifters, as well as their own esoteric lore. The scene of Drake trying to maintain a balance between being Precious and his human self without Kady’s realizing they’re never seen together are amusing and clever.
