Introduction
Tracey Emin was born on the 3rd July 1963 and this accomplished British artist shot to fame when she exhibited her installation artwork consisting of a tent called Everyone I have Ever Slept With which she exhibited in 1995. She listed names inside the tent of the 102 people she had slept with. This caused such a sensation that the publicity brought her into the limelight. [1] Her art which has included another installation piece of a bed with used condoms on it and blood-stained underwear may have shocked many people but Emin is representing many modern women of the 21st Century.
Since then she has never looked back and has held many exhibitions including at the prestigious Royal Academy whom had embraced her with open arms and became a Royal Academician of the Society in 2007.
The prices for her artworks are gaining momentum in the auction houses as bidders push up the prices making Emin one of the sought after British artists of the modern time.
This eBook looks at 40 of those artworks that have come up for auction and gives the prices realised where possible. The currency is used where the sale took place and the UK pound or the US dollar equivalent wherever possible.
This guide is aimed at anyone who owns a Tracey Emin artwork or intends to start collecting her works or is studying her works. It will also help you recognise her works should you be fortunate to come across one.
