These translations are the result of writing my series, A Private Commentary on the Bible, begun in 2012. I was previously translating for my personal studies, Sunday School ministry, and small group Bible studies held in my home. Continuing that work seemed natural as I began to publish those studies. Here are translations of six Old Testament and twelve New Testament books from that series. My intent has been to express the thoughts and emotions of the Hebrew or Greek language in the thoughts and emotions of an English reader, so he or she may read what a speaker in their language might have written, if he or she had written the book in English.
