This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of The Power of God are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of 2Samuel. They are Mercy; The invincible hand of God’s help; God’s plan for the “banished” ones; My rock, my fortress, my deliverer; and Understanding God’s great mercy.
Excerpts:
Mercy
“In the book of revelation Jesus said that I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears my voice and open the door (Revelation 3:20), I will come into him and eat with him and him with me. That is the high calling of God in Christ Jesus– fellowship (Philippians 3:13-14).”
The invincible hand of God’s help
“He makes the voice of God real to us. Paul wrote that as many as are led by the spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Romans 8:14), that is being guided by the invincible hand of God. The bible says that we will hear a voice behind us saying this is the way walk in it (Isaiah 30:21).”
God’s plan for the “banished” ones
“But right now God is calling people of all races, age, and social standing to come to him, ‘so that the banished one will not be cast out from him.’”
My rock, my fortress, my deliverer
“The agenda of God is so that deliverers would rise up from Zion (Obadiah 1:21), not just a deliverer, as in Jesus, but deliverers, those who have the mandate to be witnesses, setting people free, you and me inclusive.”
Understanding God’s great mercy
“The tales of mercy overcoming judgment is all over the bible, with ultimate triumph of the mercy over judgment seen in the cross. Because the cross took care of eternal judgment of death and separation from God on man; that is the ultimate expression of mercy.”
