This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore seven topics, from different verses in the book of Exodus. They are: Inheritance in the saints; The enemy’s plan; Iconic Moses; Workman; The blood on the ear, thumb, toe and altar; Giving under the law and under grace; and The 3 measures of a spiritual leader.
Excerpts:
Inheritance in the saints
“But if the obedience angle is in order and you don’t have the inheritance yet, you can be sure that it is only a matter of time; it will come.
“Ask Abraham (Genesis 22:1-19).”
The enemy’s plan
“In the same way God set the family as his discipleship platform, he said of Abraham I know him, which he will instruct his children to continue in my word (Genesis 18:19). And in the establishment of the nation of Israel, God said that the older ones should teach the younger to learn and do the word (Deuteronomy 32:46). And the church should also be a family and in that context, discipleship goes on.”
Iconic Moses
“Similarly, around the time Jesus was born, King Herod commanded the killing of those who were two years and younger in Bethlehem of Judea (Matthew 2:1-18) where Jesus was prophesised to be born a messiah. He saw Jesus as a risk to his throne, and he did all he could to destroy that threat. But just as God preserved Moses spiritually, Jesus was also preserved, with an angel coming informing his father of the risk to the child and he took him from harm’s way (Matthew 2:13).”
Workman
“Joy because you have a source of life that is beyond this world. The joy you radiate is also contagious. They are amazed at the source of your joy, and are attracted to your God. And as you lead in that area of influence, you wield an authority through which the kingdom of God come to the workplace.”
The blood on the ear, thumb, toe and altar
“Isaiah said that God wakes his ears daily to hear God. The priest are set apart consecrated to be able to have a special link with God (all God’s children are special to him in this way). That special link is manifested in divine hearing, activity and direction.”
Giving under the law and under grace
“The word of God is the word of faith not the word of fear. The bible says that Christ became poor that we might become rich (2Corinthians 8:9). Therefore it might actually be wrong for us to give because we want to be rich, since we already are, but we give because we are aware that we are rich in Christ and by faith with our giving we are connecting with that reality.”
The 3 measures of a spiritual leader
“When it comes to knowledge, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge and understanding (Isaiah 11:1-2). He is the spirit of revelation (Ephesians 1:15-18).
“And for the manifestation of power, we have the Holy Spirit as the spirit of power (Isaiah 11:2), responsible for all the supernatural manifestation in the life of Jesus (Acts 10:38) and in our too.”
