VERY MUCH SO is a collection of forty-five stories, articles and poems. Some of the twenty-seven stories, which form the core of the book, are fables; most are anchored by adult fancies and foibles. The settings include travel and exploration, the world of art and the home. A few are set against adoption, a subject little explored in short fiction. Relationships lie at the heart. The non-fiction section draws upon personal observations, centred on discovery and the world outside. One piece crosses the bridge to our inner world. The nine poems reflect the rhythms of the inner and outer aspects of our lives. Gary Coles has roamed the world and always taken a keen interest in people and what lies about him. He has drawn upon his experience, imagination and powers of observation to compile Very Much So. Gary has written five books about the impact of adoption, including The Invisible Men of Adoption (2010), of which Trevor Jordan, President of Jigsaw Queensland opined: Great Book. Highly recommended, as are all Gary’s books.
