The principal objective of writing the book, ‘Veterinary Medical Virology’ is to make the readers aware of different aspects of the virology especially to the students of veterinary virology, medicine, pathology, medicos, veterinary practioners, teachers of the subject and students of other biological sciences, in simple, concise and informative language. The salient features of the book are: The incorporation of latest information on virology especially the latest taxonomy of viruses as per ICTV guidelines. Description of all new emerging viral diseases, and up-to-date details on all important viral diseases in animals, birds and humans. In case of pathogenic viruses, presentation of a summary description in tabular form of order, family, genus, virus species/serotypes/subtypes and diseases caused in humans and animals by the member viruses in case of each virus family. The topic on control of viral diseases covers all available viral vaccines, vaccination policy in all animals and poultry with details on vaccine dose, booster dose, route of administration, schedule of vaccination i.e. half annual, annual, biannual, triennial or otherwise. Such information would greatly benefit the veterinarians in preventing viral disease that are not responsive to general antibiotics.
If the readers detect some defects/errors in the book, I request them to convey the same to the author so that these may be corrected in the next edition.
