Adara's pregnant! Adara and Decker experience the fears and joys of expecting their child. Fears remain from the previous miscarriage. Decker wants to protect her, shelter her.

The Phoenix, their new home, offers a completely different way of doing this investigations. Transports can take entire teams to the crime scene. They have six transports.

Adara's trainees all have to learn to fly these transports. Amongst her latest group of trainees, Bart Jarvin. He's as arrogant and self-centered as he was when Adara encountered him in training. Conflicts with him put Adara's role as a trainer in jeopardy. Bart crashes a shuttle, injuring himself and three engineers. He blames Adara.

Franklin and Avin deal with petty thefts on a planet and space station but Cara and Adara suggest they may be linked to something more. Spice, a drug, emerges as part of a crime wave.

As the team adjusts to the new way of doing their jobs, drug dealers and smugglers are arrested. A secret investigation is launched into Adara and when the team finds out about it, the crew is outraged and is vocal in their support of her.

With twists and turns of crime fighting, pregnancy issues, and growing pains, the crew of the Phoenix fumble their way through the first days of their contracts with Decker, Hal, Adara, and all the command staff trying to guide them.
